Project overview

Royal Gateway is a Galliard Homes development in East London’s Royal Victoria Dock. This enormous development is made up of five towers, and consists of 336 studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

Home to hundreds of residents, Galliard Homes understood the need to offer accessible EV charging stations to those who reside within the complex. Royal Gateway had existing EV charging facilities, but many were outdated and not functionable, so Galliard Homes partnered with EVC to overhaul Royal Gateway’s EV charging infrastructure and provide residents with an accessible solution.

The EVC team were very helpful and were always there to assist us with queries.

After initial discussions, a free site survey was conducted to identify existing power and to determine the optimum location for the EV charging bays. It was recommended that one dual 22kW charger would be installed, servicing two bays, to meet the current demand of electric vehicles driven by residents. However, to ensure Royal Gateway was futureproofed against the vast uptake in electric vehicles, EVC also provided the infrastructure for an additional eight bays, which can be seamlessly installed as demand increases.

EVC decommissioned the outdated charge points in the South car park and retrofitted the North car park with new charge points and tariff management technology, meaning all residents can use the charge points on a communal basis.

The entire installation process only took 5 days to ensure minimum disruption to the residents of Royal Gateway. Galliard Homes opted for EVC’s fully funded solution, making sure they could futureproof their development for years to come at zero cost.
