Project overview
Making up part of the Best Western Signature Collection, the Bridge House Hotel offers 49 rooms in the popular holiday destination of Dorset. Situated on the banks of the River Stour, the Bridge House Hotel presents an idyllic stay for guests, and is becoming a location of choice for EV driving holidaymakers.
In 2021, electric vehicles enjoyed a record year, with sales increasing over 76% compare to the previous year. With such a vast increase of EVs on UK roads, the Bridge House Hotel understood the need to deploy an EV charging solution to welcome all guests.
EVC conducted a site survey to determine power supply and the optimum location of bays. It was agreed that an initial 22kW would be installed to service two EV bays, with an additional two passive bays ready to be installed to seamlessly increase the number of chargers at the hotel in line with guest demand. This included power availability for an additional ten EV bays.
EVC utilised the spare capacity available from the hotels building supply to provide the site with an EV charging strategy where the supply cable ran throughout the site, ensuring all safety measures were taken during off-peak times. The bays are located on the entrance the car park for both public and guest use with full bay marking to clearly indicate the EV ready parking spaces on site.
The installation process concluded within 4 days to cause minimum disruption to the business itself. The Bridge House Hotel opted for EVC’s fully funded solution, meaning that all charge points and maintenance were supplied at zero cost to the hotel. The charge points were also added to EVC’s public network so that the general public could access the chargers, resulting in additional revenue for the Bridge House Hotel.
