Project overview
Bearwood Lakes is an 18-hole golf course set amidst 200 acres of Berkshire countryside, providing world class playing surfaces for golfers. Committed to providing an outstanding experience for members, from the minute they arrive at the course, Bearwood Lakes recognised the chance to enhance its guests’ experience further by offering onsite EV charging facilities to drivers.
EVC partnered with Bearwood Lakes to create an EV charging solution tailored to the golf course’s specific requirements and capabilities. The site previously had 2 unmanaged chargers installed, which were removed and replaced with 2x 22kW chargers - providing 4 bays of fast EV charging, fully managed by EVC. Additional infrastructure for 6x bays was put in place at the time of initial installation to ensure further chargers can be made live, as demand increases.
Utilising existing infrastructure and allowing for a scalable infrastructure ensured a reduction in both the disruption to the site and time taken to deploy active chargers. This was essential in maintaining an excellent guest experience, as it allowed members to continue using EV charging facilities at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club as they needed.
Through EVC's fully-funded financial solution, EVC were able to implement the EV charging stations at zero cost to the golf course. As part of this solution, EVC handles all aspects of the process including installation, ongoing management and upkeep of the chargers, as well as round-the-clock customer service support.
As the number of EV drivers on UK roads continues to rise, providing onsite EV charging facilities is a key way for the golf club to attract and retain their members. The ability for golfers to charge their cars whilst on the green, means they can fully immerse themselves in the game and enjoy all the course has to offer. In addition to this, Bearwood Lakes is now able to decrease the carbon emissions produced through visitor travel, differentiating themselves from competition as a greener golf club.
