Enhancing Driver Convenience with EVC and ZapPay Integration

For electric vehicle (EV) drivers, destination charging - charging at locations where they spend extended periods, such as shopping centres, hotels, or leisure facilities - needs to be seamless and hassle-free. We’ve partnered with ZapMap to integrate ZapPay, a streamlined payment platform, into our charging network. This collaboration directly benefits the driver by making the process of finding, using, and paying for charging more convenient and efficient.

EV drivers can face challenges when it comes to charging at destination locations. These sites, where drivers typically spend over two hours, require a reliable and straightforward charging experience. However, traditional payment systems and the need to juggle multiple apps or payment methods have historically complicated this process. For drivers who value convenience these complexities can detract from the overall experience of being an EV driver.

The integration of ZapPay into our charging network provides a single, unified platform for drivers to manage their charging sessions. This solution simplifies the payment process across multiple charging locations, ensuring that drivers can focus on their activities - whether it’s shopping, dining, or relaxing - without worrying about complicated charging logistics.

With ZapPay integrated into EVC’s network, drivers can easily locate an EVC charge points, initiate a charging session, and pay for it all through a single app. This eliminates the need for multiple apps or cards, reducing friction and making the charging process smoother, especially in destination locations where convenience is key.

Matt Lloyd, Head of CPO Networks at Zapmap, said:

“I’m delighted that EVC is now live as our newest Zap-Pay partner. With charge points located across the country at convenient destinations and plans for significant expansion, EVC is most welcome as the latest addition to the rapidly expanding Zap-Pay partner network – this partnership is great news for electric car drivers.

Zap-Pay is our simple way to pay for charging across networks from within the Zapmap app. Zap-Pay avoids the hassle of using multiple apps across different networks, giving you one place to pay, wherever you go. More partner integrations and announcements around Zap-Pay are to follow soon.”

ZapMap’s extensive network coverage, which includes 95% of the UK's public chargepoints, ensures that drivers using EVC chargepoints are supported by a reliable, well-established platform. This gives drivers confidence that they can easily find and use an EVC chargepoint wherever their destination may be.

According to recent surveys, 85% of EV drivers express a preference for unified payment solutions that cover multiple networks. Since the integration with ZapPay, EVC has observed a noticeable increase in driver satisfaction, particularly among those charging at destination locations where extended stays are common.

Manjit Notay, CTO at EVC, said:

"At EVC, our primary focus is to simplify the charging experience and make it more accessible. Our partnership with Zapmap will give EV drivers the confidence to easily locate, charge, and pay for their sessions.

We have some great locations nationwide and many more launching soon. This will further help provide confidence to make the EV switch simple.

We are committed to driving the UK’s EV adoption at a rapid pace and this partnership is one of many that will enable us to develop our network even further.”

Our partnership with ZapMap, and the integration of ZapPay, directly benefits the drivers by making destination charging more convenient, efficient, and user-friendly. For drivers who spend significant time at destination locations, this integration removes common pain points associated with charging, allowing them to focus on their activities with the confidence that their vehicle will be ready to go when they are. By prioritizing driver convenience and simplifying the charging process, EVC and ZapMap are setting a new standard for destination EV charging, contributing to a more seamless and enjoyable EV driving experience.
