Beaufort Park Q&A with RMG's Adam Peer

We recently sat down with Adam Peer, Associate Director at RMG London to discuss the recent installation of 117 electric vehicle charging points at their landmark 25-acre development – Beaufort Park situated in Northwest London. From its historic origins as the site of the world’s first airfield, to today’s vibrant neighbourhood – the story of Beaufort Park is forever evolving.

During our chat, Adam shared valuable insights into why EV charging was such an important addition to the development and highlights the synergies between RMG and EVC.

Q: What enticed you to make EV charging available for your residents?

A: At RMG London we feel very strongly on both caring for the environment and ensuring that our residents have easy access to all facilities and amenities which they require to enjoy their homes and livelihoods. Given the shift in the market towards EV Vehicles to aid with climate change and the government’s desire and support for the same, we have found more and more residents looking to purchase EV vehicles across our schemes. We want to ensure that our residents have the option to change to an EV vehicle should they so desire, hence we as managing agents need to ensure that sufficient charging facilities is made available for them within the managed areas onsite. We have over 2000 serviced parking bays at Beaufort Park, hence any delay on our part to provide the infrastructure and keep up with this shift, could have a noticeable impact for the community.

Q: Why did you choose to partner with EVC?

A: We chose to partner with EVC for a number of reasons. EVC share the same priorities as ourselves when it comes to sustainability and driving a greener future, whilst using new and innovative technology on our developments which benefits both the end user and the community as a whole. When inviting suppliers to tender for the Beaufort Park project it was clear to us that the intention from EVC was always to provide us with a long-term solution and partnership for the benefit of our residents, which naturally is more appealing than those who may lose interest after the installation is complete and the invoice is paid.

Q: How did EVC make the EV switch simple for you?

A: EVC made the switch extremely simple for us, their expert team attended to carry out initial surveys, consultations, provided guidance & analysis for both ourselves and our client, followed by a seamless installation and excellent aftercare. Our involvement following review and sign off was minimal and we have had little to no issues whatsoever with any part of the process, allowing us as managing agents to focus on other important day to day matters, knowing that the EV side of our development was in excellent hands.

Q: What feedback have you had from your residents on the EV charge points?

A: The residents love them, they are modern, fast, reliable and simple to use. Despite the chargers being installed on a fully funded proposal, we have also had no complaints from residents on the cost or tariff applied to their vehicle charging either, which is a huge positive.

Q: How did you find the installation process?

A: The installation was exactly as any managing agent or responsible party would hope for, we received all pre-start documentation promptly, the communication was excellent and the quality of install was second to none. No stone was left un-turned and since the install itself we have had 0 technical or operational issues with the chargers. The aesthetics & useability was also not forgotten as clear and well-presented signage was installed around the charge points, damage preventative measures put in place and WiFi connectivity added to ensure in areas of low signal coverage, residents can still connect to the app and pay for their usage. We also found the engineers and project managers a delight to deal with throughout the process and received no complaints from our residents during any point of the process.

Q: Were you informed through the entire client journey?

A: Yes, myself and my team were kept up to date through each and every step of the process, whenever we needed information we always had it promptly and this enabled us to keep our residents well informed on the project. EVC also provided marketing material which we were able to share with our residents, which also meant that the communication between ourselves and our residents community remained positive.

Q: Would you recommend EVC?

A: Based on my own experience I would highly recommend EVC to anyone looking into the installation and management of EV Chargers, residential or otherwise. They have been extremely helpful throughout the process, delivered exactly what they promised and as a result we are now looking at other schemes which EVC can assist us on. As managing agents we have a number of different areas which require our attention, however with EVC we know the electric vehicle charging element of Beaufort Park is in safe & reliable hands.

The demand for EV charge points is rising as more people make the switch to electric, and residents look for a solution at home. EVC specialise in providing block residential EV chargers for shared or allocated parking bays. Contact us today to find out more and book your free site survey.
